Desk Job?

It is so important for your health that you keep moving as much as you can if you have a desk based work environment. Experts described inactivity as "one of the biggest" challenges in health. Heart disease, type 2 diabetes, cancers and poor mental health have all been linked to sedentary behaviour. Research shows that adults who sit down for eight hours a day were 59 per cent more likely to die within a 20 year period than those who were sedentary for four hours or less. However, (not to scare you all) this risk was almost eliminated if at least 60 to 75 minutes exercise was completed a day.  – and two hours a day would be the the ideal amount. Below are a few ideas of ways to incorporate exercise into your work day;
  • Stand (you could even march on the spot) whilst making a phone call
  • Use stairs instead of lifts
  • Take a quick walk around the office every 30 minutes
  • Make a coffee
  • Walk on your lunch break
  • Cycle to and from work

Here are also a few exercises and stretches you can do from your chair, that will help keep you a little bit more comfortable.
